According to foreign media reports, Volkswagen Corporation said that starting in June this year, its electric vehicles will be able to use Tesla’s SuperCharge network charging.
In 2022, under the attraction of huge funds in the federal electric vehicle charging subsidy plan of Joe Biden, the current President of the United States, Tesla announced that it would open its charging network.
Tesla was once considered an adventure, because most companies in the industry were ready to use the SAE CCS standard as a fast charging standard. However, in 2023, Ford was the first to announce the use of Tesla’s charging standards. Soon after, more and more companies announced that Tesla charging standards were announced.
But for a long time, the public was still undergoing soldiers. It was not until December 2023 that Ford announced that it was half a year after using the Tesla charging standard for half a year that the public promised to use the Tesla NACS standard from 2025.
Now that it has arrived in 2025, Volkswagen said it has been prepared for this. At the CES exhibition in 2025, Mark Gillies, head of the public relations, confirmed that “we will start to access the Tesla charging network from June or July this year, and then we will release an official Volkswagen charging adapter.”
This means that if everything goes well, electric cars sold in the United States include ID.4 cross -border SUV and new ID.BUZZ small van, which should be able to use Tesla super charging networks to charge in a few months.
At present, Volkswagen has not appeared on Tesla’s NACS cooperation client page. This page shows that Ford, RIVIAN, GM, Volvo, Gexing and Nissan’s electric vehicles can already use Tesla’s charging network. The only manufacturer marked as “upcoming” is Mercedes -Benz. Generally speaking, car companies will stay on this page for a few months before they formally access the Tesla super charge network.
In previous cases, the manufacturing and delivery of charging adapters often takes some time. For example, Ford not only postponed the launch of the adapter, but also had to replace some adapter. Therefore, the public may need to be treated with caution on this issue.
In the latest statement, Volkswagen did not disclose whether their sub -brand Audi and Porsche would also be connected to the Tesla super charging network at the same time. However, since the previous three brands have stated in a joint statement that they will use NACS standards, it can be speculated that they are likely to access the network at the same time and provide adapters to car owners at the same time.
