According to Reuters, according to the latest prediction data from the European Enterprise Association (AEB), due to the response to the Russian market to imports and high interest rates, the agency has raised its expectations for Russia’s car sales in 2024.

Reuters reported that after the Russian -Ukraine conflict was upgraded in 2022, the Russian automotive market was severely hit, and most Western car manufacturers withdrew from the market. At present, the Russian automobile market is gradually recovering, and Chinese automakers have been filling the market gap left after the withdrawal of Western competitors.

AEB’s latest forecast shows that Russia’s new passenger car sales this year are expected to reach 1.45 million units, which is higher than 1.3 million vehicles predicted in January this year (a year -on -year increase of 15%). Alexei Kalitsev, chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Commission (Automobile Manufacturers Committee), stated in a statement that although parallel imports and some regulatory measures brought some challenges, the Russian automotive market performed strongly in the first half of this year, so it updated the predictions.

According to data from the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee, in the first half of 2024, the total sales of Russian passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were 703,765 vehicles (excluding alternative supply channels); about 754,627 vehicles including alternative supply channels.

After the exit of Western automakers, the number of imported parts and cars in Russia increased. Russia has approved the so -called “parallel import”, and many products can enter the country without the permission of the manufacturer or unknown. Kalitsev pointed out that the main source of growth in the Russian automotive market is still imported new cars, but with the increase in localized production, the proportion of imported cars in the future will decline.
